Hwaet! (which, let us be honest, is what my consistent ‘So!’ is analogous to)

Anyone who’s been following my blog since this time last year (all two of you) might be aware that I rang in 2019 with a list of writing goals. And anyone who read my update from a day or so ago might be aware that I summarily failed to complete pretty much all of them.

But that’s not what this post is about (and, honestly, given this year’s been a Bit Of A Thing, I’m not overly pissed off with myself for not managing a tonne of writing on top of that). This post is about setting some goals for 2020 – might be the same ones as last year (to the point of some of them being legitimately copy-pasted), but hey, sticking ’em here so I can hopefully tick at least some of ’em off on January 1st 2021

So (because apparently I legitimately cannot get shot of that tic), without further ado:

REDUX

– finish the first full draft for Blood on the Snow. (Might actually make this, given we’re finally out of the damn alleyway scene we spent most of 2019 in [I’m not kidding. Due to life, work, and rewrites, I was on the same scene in October that I was on in January]).

–  start the first proper draft for Silver in the Ashes. (Assuming we make the one above, this is pretty much a given, since even one new sentence counts for this).

– win NaNoWriMo 2020. (Got to 38,000~ words this year with multiple LARP events and two weeks of horrific illness. We can do better than that this time around).

– actually get more done on Seventh Son. (My poor, poor project-on-hiatus. 2019 saw literally no work done on this, and it’s one of the things I’m actually a wee bit annoyed with myself for).

– write more poetry (because that’s something I can do that’s fairly low-pressure).

NEW

– Enter at least one contest (probably a Writer’s HQ one, because those for some reason feel a wee bit less daunting)

– Finish the Black Roses 100themes redo.

– Write more LARP fic.

– Complete at least one Twitter hashtag game.
